How'd it go?

So, how'd it go this week? I know the week isn't technically over but I'm going to be a little busy tomorrow. =)
Anyway...please post your experiences this week in asking people about their quiet times. I was able to talk to a guy from work and it was really cool because we got into this really deep discussion (he's a Christian too but I didn't know that at first) so that was neat.
If you didn't get a chance this week then please remember that these are NOT only one week challenges, these are things we should be doing on a regular basis.

New Interview!

Alex and Brett have just done a new interview with NPR news CHECK IT OUT its a really cool interview.
Also, there is a very cool liberal, progressive review of Do Hard Things. It was posted on

"Not a "Christian"? Read THIS review
"I am NOT a fundamentalist Christian- I am a liberal, ultra-progressive Roman Catholic and a democrat. I am writing this because, although I have different political and spiritual views from the authors of this book (and nearly all of the reviewers) I thought this book had a lot of ideas worthy of thought.I didn't always agree with certain ideas (though a modest dresser myself, I wasn't happy with parts of their modesty survey). Nor do I agree with some of the authors' religious statements and conclusions. But after deciding to "agree to disagree" with those parts, I can honestly say that the overall thesis and message of the book I completely agreed with. Moreover, this book was very well written and inspiring, even for me, an adult well past the teen years.I'm not going to waste space on Amazon talking about the good points of the book- plenty of reviewers have, and you can read what they wrote. All I'm saying is, you can disagree with certain political and religious views of the authors and still get a lot out of this book."

So there ya go...even if it wasn't a radical change, the seeds were planted so that is something we can get excited about!
Speaking of Do Hard Things...sorry I haven't started this yet, if you have come up with any questions from Chapter One, please post them and that way we can have a discussion.

Challenge for this week

Ok so this week I don't have a question, I have a challenge. In light of this mornings' message on mutual care, I want to challenge everyone this week, to ask someone (NOT a family member) "What did you read in your quiet time this morning?"
If, the person you ask didn't do their quiet time that day, then challenge them to be faithful in their quiet times and that you will be praying for them and will hold them accountable. If they did do their quiet time, then there is a great opportunity to ask them what stood out to them the most or what they think God is doing in their lives...and to share with them your quiet time thoughts as well!
So there's your challenge for the week...if you know you won't be able to talk to anyone who is a Christian this week, then ask a non-Christian friend, something like "have you ever heard about having a quiet time with God?" or "have you ever thought about talking with God?" These questions can lead into great conversations! Let me know how it goes, please share your testimonies this week and I'll see how it went later this week!

A Series Idea

I've had this idea bouncing in my mind for a while now, and I want to know what you all think.
Here it is: I would like to do a series or just different posts on what God is, His attributes and characteristics. I thought this might be a way to fellowship online.
I don't know exactly how it's going to go.
My idea is that during my devotions, I would read scriptures and books and find out what they say about God and how a particular aspect of His character affects us.
Also, if anyone, through his studying of a particular aspect of God's character, wants to post what God has shown him, that would be wonderful!
The idea is that I (or anyone) would study in depth an attribute and then when I've gathered several big points, to post it. There would probably be about two posts a month since it is an in depth study.
And of course, everyone is WELCOME to comment.
Please comment and tell me what you think.

I've always had a heart for evangelism, but right now I'm kind of stuck. I live on a street where all my neighbors are christians. All of my friends are christians and I'm homeschooled. My schedule is too busy right now to do any GO team events. Still I want to reach out to people. Any ideas? Thanks.

Movie, Book Study, and Posting

Ok people, Melly called me the other day and we decided to try to get everyone together this Saturday to see the 9:45am showing of Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. We'll be going to the Starlight Cinema If you would like to join us please come! I think we'll probably meet right outside around 9:20 or 9:30. Also word of warning, I don't know how much tickets are but they are NOT accepting coupons, we already asked. So see you Saturday Morning!

Book Study: This coming week, starting Monday we'll begin our Book Study and for the next 2 weeks we'll concentrate on Chapter 1. Please read Chapter 1 in Do Hard Things by this coming Wednesday so we'll be ready to discuss. Also please come up with your own questions that you want others to answer.

Note: Just wanted to say to those of you who don't post. Please don't be afraid to post or comment. This blog is for accountability and we need participation to have good accountability. Please make it a goal to try and post something soon, if we are going to keep this blog active, we need as much as we can get! Don't be afraid of what to post or what others might think because thats kind of the point of this grow together and help each other. Whether its just 2 sentences about how you didn't do well at DHT that day or how you succeded, we want to hear about it! It doesn't have to be deep or profound, but we do want to be able to encourage you. So thanks for sharing people!

Note2: Do you want me to ask every week a new question? Like "What is your DHT for this week?"

Prayer for a Friend

Hey guys, I've got a prayer request for friend Josh (I work with him) needs prayer. Back in October during a football game he hurt his knee...well it still hasn't healed and he just found out this week that he's got a torn ACL, MCL and meniscus(aka his knee is torn up really bad) that requires surgery...his surgery is May 29th and he'll be out of commission for a while so please pray for the surgery to go well and for quick healing or even better for total healing that wouldn't even require surgery. Thanks guys!!!

Mr. Connolly's message this past Sunday was really good. I personally felt convicted about encouraging fellowship. I don't know about you guys, but for me, it's hard to initiate fellowship. Even when talking to my friends on Sundays, it's so much easier to talk about anything and everything except about God. I know that the church is a great place to fellowship, but my pride holds me from stepping out of my comfort zone in this area.
I want to fellowship with my friends and talk more about God and what He is doing in my life and in the lives of others. I'm glad that I have that desire, because if I didn't there is something wrong.
Most of the time though, it's hard for me to go deeper and ask spiritual questions.
Do any of you have the same problem?
Do you find initiating fellowship and cultivating fellowship to be easy?
If you have any tips, please comment; I would very much like to know.
